August Update!

Since I missed posting an update last week, I'm writing this one as a kind of 'recap' of the last couple weeks.

Here are some updates on the Queble channel, and my game, Eavor!


So starting off with the YouTube channel update, I started a new series where I'll shoutout a Godot plugin/addon every week!

Next up, what's happening with Eavor development!?

I'd rate this past week a 6/10 in Eavor productivity - I would have liked to spend more time on my game, but unfortunately life still gets in the way :/

Either way though, we're still making progress!!


Here's a list of key features I've added since the last blog post:

  • New weapon trails added to sword attacks - makes the combat feel more fluid

  • Hit stop effects to make attacks feel more juicy

  • Polished up some 'snapping issues' with the weapon controller... it was basically interpolating to the next weapon attack animation in a weird way, so I refactored the entire script (which is like 350 lines long btw) to make it work correctly. Luckily, the weapon now feels REALLY good, and I'm super happy with the player-side of combat! Next up will be applying that same quality to Akiesto's attacks :)

  • Animated augments/items appearing from treasure chests (also animated the chests)

  • Purchased my first song for Eavor, and I'm super happy with it! Nathanaël Wsiaki composed the song (you can check him out here: https://www.youtube.com/@nwsiaki), but I absolutely love it! The music may be appearing in streams in the near future...


Apart from the things listed above, I'm also narrowing the game scope a bit, since scope-creep has been an issue recently.

Since I'm aiming to launch the game's kickstarter at the end of this month, I want to have a playable demo with the 'bare bones' of the game working well. Depending on how that all goes, I'll obviously be adding more of the content I've been dreaming up :)
